The Metro Neighborhood

Create an annual series of events hosted by various cities and neighborhoods throughout the Metro area all tagged under the same banner. The Events would be aimed at integrating and developing a common sense of pride and ownership for the St. Louis area by nature of showcasing local talent, traditions, food, music and more to the greater metro area. These events would ultimately be aimed at providing a platform to develop a more cohesive identity within the Metro Neighborhood and a hope to accurately redefine our Identity to the region and Nation.

"St. Louis, the show me off city in the show me state"

The idea would allow people to display and show their pride in our city. The campaign can be tailored to each individual attraction. Throughout the city, county and would allow buttons, pins or bumper stickers to be made showing off that pride. The zoo, the arch, Ted Drewes and the button would be reflective of that pride. I'm a St. Louis zoo show off!! ( If you knew the Zoo, you'd show off too!) Ted Drewes Show off (we eat this up) The Magic House Show off (because we're rated better attraction than Disneyworld and Disneyland) I'm a Cardinal show off (Because we're the best fans in baseball) What we want at the end of your visit is to say "I had fun and a great time!" but most importantly for those of us who live here, we want to hear "I want to come back again, I didn't get to see it all. That is our goal and that is our wish for you! So please come to St. Louis and let us show off for YOU! every major attraction, place to visit restaurant could take davantage of this concept and easily adapt it to their location. The spots can be as short or as long as you rerquire to get across your message or reason for showing off. This campaign is a marketing dream come maker. "St. Louis, Missouri - the show me off city in the show me state!" YOu can involve celebraties to just you very day citizen and let them brag about the city. Say as the mayor is bragging about St. Louis he is walking and as he brags each attraction, restaurant, each attribute appears in the background while he walks. Simple as "We can even brag about having the best tasting water in the coutry in St. Louis. There is not an attraction or place of interest that you cannot incorporate into this campaign and as the city grows or new attractions arise you can simply roll them into the campaign. For example ( I'm an Arch show off - I'm a Botantical Garden Show off - I'm a Zoo show off - "Ask me what I have to show off about!" - The advertising premiums used is endless and could be sold by each particular attraction to help fund their involvement in the campaign.

Glass Wall Observation Box Atop the Arch

In May of 1961, the Post Dispatch printed a design for an observation deck built in to the top of the Arch with a glass bubble top for a vast panoramic view from the top of the Arch. That concept was never built and might have detracted from the beauty of the Arch. But today, we could build an unobtrusive outdoor high glass wall rectangular box on top of the Arch that would allow visitors to scale a few stairs and stand on top of the Arch within the box for a spectacular view. It could have no lid, and would only be erected in the summer.

A river city needs more action "down by the river."

To bring life and activities down by the river, aside from the beer-soaked, baseball centered scene that there already is.

In this economy, if one takes the time to do a little research... there are very few areas that consumers have continued to spend or have exceeded previous years in spending. One of those areas is our beloved pets. Dogs in particular. As our loving companions become more like one of our family, year after year we continue to spend more on them. Some couples or singles who chose to forgo children and as (I well know) some "empty nesters" soon find fido the apple of Mommy or Daddys eye. St. Louis should capitalize on a growing trend. Catering to the family dog. How about a St. Louis Stay-cation where you can bring your best buddy along? Hotels, indoor facilities as well as out? All centrally located for a few days are a weeks visit with your best buddy? Where mans best friend is welcome to come along. Restaurants with more outdoor patios, shopping villages where any well behaved dog stroll along with an owner. Heck how about a whole neighborhood development for like minded people with fenced yards, a local hometown vet on the corner and neighbors who can relate to a common love of our dogs? The possibilities are endless.! We could build or convert facilities for locals as well as "out of towners" to entertain themselves with the semi annual attraction of "dock dog jumping" or "dog agility" competitions, dog shows, or costume contests. We all have the smartest most talented or cutest dog on earth right? Perhaps we could eventually could attract a state of the art veterinary college where people from all over the world could fly in fido to receive the latest and greatest treatment if needed or students could come to get the best education or licensed practitioners would travel to catch the latest seminar on Holistic animal health. We could build a "Six Flags for dogs adventure park" where they can walk along shaded paths and experience sights and sounds of woodland creatures or take a swim in the summer. Don't have a dog or the time every day to care for a dog but love them anyway? Well, that's where St. Louis Stray rescue comes in. Stop by the local "adoption" facility and "spend the day with a new buddy." Heck, that would make two lonely souls happy and you never know.. it could be the beginning of a whole new family!
