i first found out about the fair back in the 1980's when the 75th anniversary came around the old st louis globe democrat was doing articles on the fair and had an st louis worlds fair flag advertised for about $25.00 basck than so i bought one i still have it and i think somewhere i still have the sunday magazine article about the 75th anniversary of the fair! so when the 100th anniversary came around i jumped right back in even before it all began i was going into st louis trying to find out what was going to happen for the 100th anniversary i began to go back in in the summer of 2002 and 2003 when they began to rebuild the fountains i went in and went right down on art hill where this trailer was and i went over the fence in the day time down there and talked to the men working on the fountain rebuild i think i was the only one who did this at that time and then again in 2004 the summer i continued to try to get the forest park organizations the art museum parks deparment forest park forever and the historical society to come together and plan to rebuild the fair i walked around did miles of leg work trying to gdet theses organizations to commit to the rebuild and when i was not in st louis i was spending many hours persuing the febuild on the ndet researching all of the fair sites trying to find ever possible detail about the fair the palaces pike festival hall the great wheel the railroads on the streets around the fair the neighborhoods around the area of the fair the films about the fair i went into great detail trying to find everything i possible could on the fair it took much time and effort to find everything i could on the fair their were many fly by night people who only were interst in the 100th anniversary for the time it was going on and after this was over they all folded up and disappeared! but i continued on all alone relentlessly continuing my pursuit on the fair and the rebuild i continued reasearch by myself trying to get the permanent organizations to continue to come together but was rebuffed time and time and time and time again still i never gave up i kept going in and trying to get them to commit to my project but they would never call ot even try to talk with me on the plans i continued on alone still doing leg work when i could and on the net but i all petered out except through dilligent pains taking research to find a very vew links of any who had the passion for the fair that i did! i still know of the links that still do exsits which can be counted on one hand! these i can submit if you wish and then here very recently i was betrayed completly the very organizations i had tryed from the very beginning to commit to the entire rebuild went off the deep end and were found to have wasted their time and money of frivolous small time projects nothing at all like rebuliding the fair i was kind of crushed by this but i still have never given up i am still in it to the end i own the title from the state goverment here in jefferson city and it cost me $45.00 dollard per year to keep the title open for the fair rebuild which i do all on my own with no personal reward at all! to me the fair is it's own reward! and until i saw your organization starting up i was kind of in a dispair but i jumped in anyway and am hoping maybe others will finally see what i am trying to do and just maybe other's will like the whole idea to jump in and finally support the whole effort of the fair rebuild i am hoing that it just might finally work out somehow! more later!
